So I left Sooz and Jazz to while away their last hours in Dade County, and headed to Pulse to go to work.
It was so hot this day. So hot and so sunny. We got sunburned walking to get sandwiches.
I could have stayed outside all day. All week. For the rest of the year, maybe.
Oh and we popped by Aqua but I didn't really have any time to look around.
Then we worked and worked, and partied some more, and I layed on the beach at 4am and counted stars, and all the while knew that it would soon be over.
But I was ok with that.
This year is almost over again, and I can feel my life accelerating as is moves towards the Big Stop that is the first morning of the New Year.
That morning is so necessary. Sometimes there is just massive weight on your shoulders, and the idea of having another chance to take care of it can save you.
New Years is a cosmic handout, and really is truly a reason for celebration.
We had lunch at the Delano. This place is decorated like some surreal dreamscape.
Freddy came to join us and see us off.
Waiting for the valet. Exactly how it should be.
And then done. Bye South Beach, it's been real, but you are a wierd place and I won't miss you too much.
I wonder if I'll make it back next year...
Dang, Florida is flat. Everyone on my plane is talking about parties they went to. I have no headphones. I am mildly hungover.
We are delayed in Atlanta for hours. I buy a book. The airport is full, I mean FULL of soldiers. They are all flying to Germany. It's the holidays, and this make me cry as I'm trying to buy a salad.
But oh god, how welcoming these lights are. I look down and see Bay Ridge, the Belt Parkway, Prospect Park, Grand Army Plaza, North Brooklyn, Greenpoint, Queens...I am home. New York is a harsh mistress but when you come back to her it is like you are Cinderella and she is a giant glass slipper. You just slide right in there and then the magic happens.
